Dr. Beasley’s Detailing Product Giveaway Winners Announced

Many of you who registered for and attended the September Supercar Saturdays event sponsored by Dr. Beasley’s took advantage of two opportunities to win over $400 of Dr. Beasley’s products specifically chosen for your vehicle. There was a bit of a snag in the process as a couple people who were chosen as winners didn’t reply back to us! The SCS team continued to go down the list and the winners have finally been officially determined. Congratulations to Dan P and Steve M! Always register for SCS events for a chance to win other cool prizes!

Register for September SCS and Win $400 Worth of Detailing Products from Dr. Beasley’s

Edit:  RSVP Extended to Noon on Friday 8/31 – More Opportunity to Win!

Dr. Who?

We’re looking forward to our last scheduled Supercar Saturdays event of the 2012 Season taking place this coming Saturday, September 1st, at The Promenade Bolingbrook. We’re so excited in fact that we’ve teamed up with Dr. Beasley’s, our generous September event sponsor, to give away some serious prizes to SCS registrants and attendees.

Back in 2004, Jim Lafeber and his wife Nikki started Simon’s Shine Shop. As a car enthusiast and perfectionist, Jim was dissatisfied with carwashes and decided to take action. I have never seen an operation like Jim’s. Water is dispensed from ceiling-mounted hose reels. To avoid the dreaded bucket system and reusing dirty water, Jim custom engineered a second ceiling-mounted hose system to dispense foam. So what about wash mitts? Each wash station has a plastic 55-gallon drum full of clean ones and there are more washing machines than I’ve seen in some laundromats to handle the used ones. I can go on and on about how impressed I am with Jim’s carwash creation (find me at the event and I will) but that’s not what we’re talking about today.

As you can tell, Jim is a problem solver. Where most people accept imperfection, Jim and his team at Dr. Beasley’s consider it a welcome challenge, developing a prescription to treat every car care ailment. When Jim received feedback from a Simon’s Shine Shop customer that the high-end leather products he was using did a great job of cleaning and conditioning the leather in his German cars but left behind an undesirable shine, Jim began looking for a new solution. After trying a plethora of products to no avail, Jim set up a laboratory and went to work; Dr. Beasley’s was born. Since then Dr. Beasley’s has overcome a plethora of problems ranging from creating a car wash soap that doesn’t leave your hands dry to developing a complex system to wash and care for matte paint. That’s right, the same paint that some manufacturers can’t tell you how to wash or maintain. Jim’s matte paint system is so good in fact that a major manufacturer is going to include a bag of Dr. Beasley’s Matte Paint Prescription in every matte car they sell beginning in the 2013 model year.

What You Can Win

Dr. Beasley’s is giving away two custom detail kits outfitted with Dr. Beasley’s products personally selected to meet the specific needs of YOUR car. Not the do it yourself type? Dr. Beasley’s is willing to trade the winners a detail of comparable value at Simon’s Shine Shop instead. Simply drop your car off and let the professionals do the rest! You win, you choose, it’s that simple!

How To Win –  2 Ways

There are two ways to enter and we recommend taking advantage of both of them! Click here and RSVP to attend the September 1st Supercar Saturdays event before 9 AM on Thursday  12 Noon on Friday 8/31. Keep reading, you won’t want to miss #2!2) Visit the Dr. Beasley’s tent at the September SCS event and sign up for their email list. You’ll be entered to win one of the two grand prizes and as an added bonus will receive a free Dr. Beasley’s product goodie bag just for signing up!

We look forward to seeing you at the September 1st event next Saturday at The Promenade Bolingbrook.

Supercar Saturdays Free Track Day Giveaway

I know what you’re thinking, how can I register to win?

Well, that’s exactly it actually, you had to register for SCS events this season in order to win!

Since we got rid of Preferred Parking many of you have been asking why you should continue to register for events. Some of the reasons we provided (explained in greater detail here) were:

  1. It lets us know who’s coming and how many
  2. It lets us inform people in the event anything changes
  3. It lets us give stuff away.

Despite that, we’ve read many posts on forums where people have told others there is no point and not to register. Registration helps us, the people who volunteer to run SCS to produce the best event possible for everyone to enjoy.

To show our appreciation to those who register for Supercar Saturdays events, Supercar Saturdays is giving away 2 free track days to Hooked on Driving events. We randomly chose two winners: the first was chosen from a list of everyone who has registered for an event this season and the second winner from a list of people who registered for the August SCS event.

Congratulations to Gary F (’66 Chevelle) and Stuart S (’05 G35) on winning a FREE Hooked on Driving Track Day to be used any time in the next year courtesy of all of us at Supercar Saturdays!

Additionally, those of you who stopped by the Hooked on Driving Tent at the August event and registered for their email list were entered to win a free track day courtesy of Hooked on Driving. Congratulations to Lee L and thanks to everyone who took the time to speak with and support our event sponsor!

Chicago Motor Cars – July 2012 Sponsor

Supercar Saturdays is proud to announce our partnership with Chicago Motor Cars as our July 2012 sponsor. While many of you may be familiar with Parin Shah and his team at CMC, I wanted to take a couple of minutes to introduce the rest of you to the services they offer.

I had always loved the Audi A5 since I first drove a 6-speed example back in 2008. A few months ago I came across a great buy on a beautiful 2010 Audi S5 automatic and bought it. I drove the car for a couple of weeks and decided that it just wasn’t for me; the combination of the engine, weight, and slushbox meant that I needed to find it a new home. As they say in the car business “you can’t pay too little for the wrong car”.

I’ve sold more cars than I can count so I took photos, put it on eBay and a few other sites, and watched as the car didn’t meet my reserve. I sent out a couple of second chance offers and sat horrified as people declined. I have no idea why, it was the right color with the right options at an aggressive price. I thought about taking it to Carmax but every single time I’ve taken a car there (probably 4-5 times) I end up with an offer of 50-75% of the value of the car, it’s an aggravating waste of time.

Around this same time, a good friend of mine owned a specialty Porsche that he was listing for sale through a consignment agreement with Parin. My friend suggested that I come with him and have Parin take a look at my S5. Parin had his buyer Phil take a look at the car and made me an offer on the spot. Long story short, I ended up selling the car to Parin for the same price I was hoping to get from a private party and Parin unbelievably managed to sell the car the next day, talk about a win-win!

Back to my friend with the Porsche, he dropped it off with Parin who made recommendations on how to go about listing this special car along with presenting its modifications in a tasteful and beneficial way. There was an open dialogue and when they agreed on how to list the car, Parin took the photos and listed it for sale. Chicago Motor Cars sold his car within a matter of weeks for the price my friend had been hoping for.

The team at Chicago Motor Cars is currently working to find me my next car and I’m looking forward to my next transaction with them. Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, trade, or just happen to be in the neighborhood it’s worth stopping by to meet the team and take a look at the incredible cars they have on display, unlike at SCS, they’re all for sale!

What is Supercar Saturdays? This video from June explains it all!

Thanks to our good friends at WOT Films and everyone who attended the June SCS event, we’re pleased to present the June 2012 event video. The video features interviews with the SCS team as well as all of the amazing and diverse cars you’ve come to expect at Supercar Saturdays events.

Preferred Parking, Not For Now

No Preferred least not for now

As anyone who has brought a car out to Supercar Saturdays in the past 3 seasons knows, we highly recommend registering for Supercar Saturdays events. There are several reasons to register:

  1. It lets us know who’s coming and how many. While all SCS events are well attended, some are better attended than others. As such, this information is important to ensure that the SCS team and our venues have enough staff on hand to ensure the best event possible. Additionally, it lets vendors and sponsors know what to expect to ensure there are enough people serving coffee, etc. (We give them as much info as possible, but at the end of the day, it’s their business decision)
  2. It lets us inform people in the event anything changes. Once in a while something happens: a road gets closed, Illinois’ finest set up a fundraiser, a street is torn up that you’d probably like to avoid, etc. Rather than spam the whole SCS database, we only inform people who have said they’re coming to a given event.
  3. It lets us give stuff away. SCS has never and will never sell or give anyone access to our cherished email database. Once in a while, however, sponsors offer the opportunity for SCS attendees to win things. Sometimes those sponsors want to give something away only to people attending the event they sponsored. In this instance, we offer the opportunity for people to win great stuff (like trackdays etc.).
  4. It allows us to set up “preferred parking“. Preferred parking guarantees parking spaces (as close to center as possible depending on arrival time) to early registrants

Why we’re abolishing Preferred Parking…at least for now:

We started SCS to bring Chicagoland car culture together regardless of whether people drive Lamborghinis, Hondas, or anything in between. The SCS team  receives requests to park similar cars together. The fact is that it looks better for photography. The problem, however, is that when you organize cars in that fashion, BMW drivers end up parked near only other BMW drivers, etc. This has resulted in people not parking near their friends as well as the accusation that SCS favors a particular type of car. (That’s completely untrue by the way, since starting SCS, the team has owned the following cars: Mini Cooper S, Nissan GT-R, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911, Mitsubishi Starion, FJ Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Raptor, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Audi S4, Volkswagen R32, etc. — as you can tell we run the gamut on vehicles)

In short:

  • People show up early and get angry when they’re asked to move their car because we’ve mapped out parking to achieve the goal above
  • People show up late and get angry when they don’t get Preferred Parking
  • People feel we favor one make or type of cars over another
  • It requires the SCS team to stand there and check people in, we’re all volunteers and “check-in” can be a bit of a nightmare…you know, like when someone starts yelling at you at 8 AM when you’ve been up since 5 and are VOLUNTEERING your time

Although we may re-institute Preferred Parking in the future, we’re starting the 2012 season without it. That said, we HIGHLY recommend that everyone attending an event continue to register for their and our benefit (shown in reasons 1-3 above).

2012 Season Location Announcement

After a long winter(ish) welcome back to Supercar Saturdays for 2012, our 4th season! The Supercar Saturdays crew is in full swing, working hard to make 2012 our best season yet!

We’re pleased to announce that 2012 will feature two event locations, one in the southwestern suburbs and the other in the northeast suburbs. By holding events in opposite corners of Chicagoland we hope to garner more attention to the Supercar Saturdays brand which will result in bigger, more eclectic turnouts at all of our events this season and for years to come.

The Locations:

The Promenade Bolingbrook, located on Boughton Road a stone’s throw away from I-355 in the southwestern suburb of Bolingbrook, we were proud to call The Promenade home for most of the SCS events during the 2011 season. We’re pleased to announce that we’ll continue to line the streets of The Promenade during the May, July, and September 2012 events.

Bannockburn Green, located at the corner of Half Day Road (Route 22) and Waukeegan Road (Route 43) in the northeast suburb of Bannockburn is right between I-294 and Route 41 (the continuation of the Edens Expressway). This location, easily accessible from all directions, features both sit-down and quick-service restaurants for breakfast and lunch in addition to a Starbucks. We’re looking forward to calling Bannockburn Green home for the June and August 2012 events.

Where and When
As always, Supercar Saturdays events will be held on the first Saturday of every month all summer long. Our 2012 event dates and locations are as follows:

Pardon Our Dust (because it’s for your benefit)

Like everything else in the State of Illinois, the Supercar Saturdays website has two seasons: winter and road construction. We’re working hard along with our amazing friends at Nova Libra to make some improvements to the site so that we can roll out even more amazing content and provide an even better overall experience.

We should be done soon and will update you with a list of improvements along with what you can expect from the updated site. Until then, please “pardon our dust” and rest easy knowing that there are no 45 MPH speed zones or photo-enforcing camera vans here.

Oh, and don’t forget to RSVP to receive updates regarding our first event of the 2012 season taking place at The Promenade Bolingbrook on May 5th. We will continue to hold SCS on the first Saturday of every month all summer long at various locations throughout Chicagoland.

Welcome to the New Supercar Saturdays Website

Welcome to the new Supercar Saturdays website! The site not only looks different, but was also completely redesigned from the ground up to provide you with a better overall user experience.

The sleek new look was designed by the boys at Uncommon Thinking and implemented on Nova Libra’s awesome CORAL back end.

As you may have noticed, we’ve added a bunch of new functionality to the site including this blog which we will use to keep you up to date on SCS information as well as profile interesting cars and their owners, document the build of our very own Supercar Saturdays car, and much more!

The site functions differently specifically in the realm of registering for events. On the old site you had to go to the RSVP page and fill out a form with information about you and your car each and every time.

The new registration system saves you time and energy by allowing you to create your own user account, add cars, and then register one or more of those cars for a given event. All of your vehicle information is stored so next time you can simply log in and register!

Here’s how to do it the first time:

  1. Go to and click on the RSVP link in the registration bar at the top:
  2. Click on “Click here to register” next to New User at the top
  3. Fill out the registration form then click on the Submit Registration button in the bottom right corner
  4. Click on “Click here to register a new car not listed above”
  5. Fill out the form then click “Submit Car”
  6. Check the box next to the car you wish to register and click on the RSVP button.
  7. You’re all set, you should receive a confirmation email shortly. Next time simply click on RSVP, enter the email address and password you specified in step 2 above and you’re good to go; your car info will already be saved!
